CANADIAN NAVAL POLICY.
ATTITUDE OF THE LIBERALS. By Telegraph—Press Association-Copyright (Kec. August 18, 5.5 p.m.) • Ottawa, August 17. The "Free Press," in an apparently inspired article, announces that Sir Wilfrid Laurier is ready to assist tho Government to develop a suitable naval policy only if tho Government adopts tho policy already settled by tho Liberals. If the Conservatives have a better policy, the Liberals are ready to adopt it, but until it is disclosed the Opposition will adhere to its declared policy.
THE BURDENS OF EMPIRE. London, August IG. Mr. R. L. Borden, Prime Minister of Canada, has been accorded the Freedom of the City of Glasgow. In his speech at the ceremony, he said that as tho Dominions grew in influence and population modifications in regard to constitutional relations would bo ncjessary. Certain responsibilities now resting on Britain should bo shared by the Dominions.
