TYPHOID EPIDEMIC.

FIVE HUNDRED CASES IN OTTAWA. Br Tolesraph-Presa Association-Copyright Ottawa, August 1. A typhoid outbreak, which began a fortnight ago, is assuming alarming proportions. There have been fifty new cases daily, and eighty-six since yesterday. Tho aggregate is 525, with seven deaths. The hospitals are full. An emergency hospital: opened three days ago is filling rapidly. Tho citizens want the city to pay expenses of obtaining nurses, who are scarce.

The civic authorities are pouring hydrochloride into the Ottawa Diver. The Government holds that until pure water is provided people should not be induced to come to Ottawa.
