SURVEY OPERATIONS.
I ANNUAL REPORT. The report on the survey operations of tho Lands and Survey Department was presented to Parliament yesterday. Fifty stall' surveyors, 'eleven temporary, and 10.") contract were employed, tha total cost of the surveyors and their parties being ■tWI,MO. The standard survey of the city of Auckland is now almost completed; there are 12 plans ill all. Auckland city and suburbs. I'rogrcss has also been mado with the slandaril surveys of Duiii'diii city, Wangauui borough, Greymoulli borough, and the town of Blenheim. Under settlement surveys a very large area has been completed during the year, the total being lll'i.SOO acres, in addition to which 159,-til acres have been topographically surveyed. Of Xalivo lands, acres were surveyed. "Tho eonapplication of lessees of Native lands in the Auckland district for road access through adjoining .Native lands is a matter." the Surveyor-General remarks, "(hat will very shortly require lo lie reconsidered in order to simplify the methods now in vogue, mid lo expedite Ihe work required."
