DEATH OF THE MIKADO.
BRITISH CONDOLENCE. By Teleeraph—Press Assoemtion-Cop'rieht London, July 31. The Prime Minister, Mr. H. H. Asquith, in the House of Commons, moved a motion of condolence with Japan on the death of tho Emperor. Ho emphasised tho remarkable changes that had taken place during the reign. Tho alliance with' Britain, ho said, rests'on a firm and enduring foundation. The Leader of the Opposition, 'Mr. Bonar Law, seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. IN THE HOUSE OF LORDS. ' (Rec. August 2, 0.35 a.m.) London, August 1. In tho House of Lords, in the presence of the Japanese Ambassador, Lord Crewe, Secretary of State for India, and Lord Lansdowne paid tributes to the Mikado. INDIAN OFFICES CLOSE. Calcutta, July 31. The Government offices have been closed in India in respect to tho memory of the Emperor of Japan.
