The wet weather which. was experienced all summer, and which has been vary conspicuous during the winter, has interfered greatly with floxmiUmg operations this season. The ground was never rollv drv all summer, aud is now supersaturated, so that flax land and paddocking ermmd are in a deplorable condition. The coming season, however, promises to be a bu"v one in finx-milling circles, and dairv farmers also anticipate a very successful summer, the local dairy company hiving experienced a highly prosperous year as far as its output and de-, velopmc'nt have been concerned.

Mr. U.C. Buchanan, M.P., has arranged for the Department expert to he present and supply details of the scheme. - On Saturday the Wniriyapa South County Council accepted the following tender's :-\Vater-hbling and filling. Mam lioad. north, T. M. Aplin, Jr6S; delivery of 500 cubic yards, more'or less, on Ulad-stoue-Masterton Road, F. Burling, at 4* 3d per yard; delivery of 1800 cubic yards,' more" or less, on Gladstone-Loiii!-bush Road, Thos. Harvey, at 4s. M. per yard. .
FEUDING.
A keen demand is being experienced for farm?, both sheep and dairy, in the leilding district. At the present time, inquiries aro being made on behalt ot a number of South Island buyers and many farmers who tried the Wnikato seem to have been convinced that the land in tins district is of better quality with not a great deal of difference in price. The ploughing match committee of the Farmers' Union have presented a bal-ance-sheet showing that the receipts (including a Balance of =CG 153. sd. handed in from last year's carnival) totalled £il 19s. 3d. Donations amounted to £oO 11s. Gd. and the expenditure was .£6O Is. lid., leaving .«U 17s. 4d. to credit. This is considered very satisfactory.
