NEW SOUTH WALES SPEAKER LOSES HIS CASE. • By Tslegraph—Press Association— Copyright ■ (Rec. June 21, 8.35 p.m.) Sydney, June 21. The action brought by Mr. Perry, member for Richmond, against the Speaker of. tho Legislative Assembly, Mr. Willis, has been settled. Tho ease arose out of the disorderly scenes in the Assembly in August last, following on Mr, Willis's election to tho Speakership. Mr. Perry left the Chamber, after some angry passages, And called on the Liberal members to follow him. As ho did not bow in passing before the Speaker's chair, Mr. Willis directed the Sergeant-at-Arms to bring him before hi in and then admonished him.

A few days later , Mr. Perry issued a writ claiming ,£IOOO damages for assault against tho Speaker and the Sergeant-at : Arms. In a demurrer action which followed tho Supreme Court ruled that tho Speaker had no power to deal with a member once he had left tho House. Mr. Willis appealed to tho High Court, which unanimously dismissed tho appeal. •

'Mr. Perry's counsel, on the action coming before the State Court to-day, announced that hi? client, having won on tho demurrer, had no dtsiro to recover money from the- Government--in respect of his alleged assault and imprisonment.
