HUTT BOROUGH ESTIMATES.

___4 4 NO INCREASE IN RATES. The estimates for tho current year, in connection with tho Hutt Borough Council, havo bfon finally cousidwed and passed by the council meeting. .There will be no increase in (he rates, which will remain the same as last year, namely, general 2!d.; interest, 1 l-10d., and water rate 2 per cent, and 1 per cent. The estimated receipts for the general account total .£IO,OBO 1C?. 10d. and the expenditure .KI7GS Bs. lid. The unimproved \alue of the borough is .£820,000, and the general rate of 21d. is estimated to produce 13.=. Id" Tho estimated expenditure in the engineer's department, is ,£SBBO 18s. Cd., which includes .£2115 Is. Gd. for street maintenance, ,£SOO for asphalting footpaths, .£3l for maintenance of bridges, for cleaning creeks, £m Gs. for street lighting, etc. Sanitary service, -CJG2 25.; Recreation Ground, ,£230; fire brigade, XBG 10?.; and .£l5O sewage works maintenance. In the town clerk's department the principal items of expenditure are: Wnges, .Cllffi; Hospital and Charitable Aid levy, J!7SI (an increase of ,£3t 9s. Cd.); Technical School, subsidy, ,£2O (nn increase of .£3); office expenditure, .£2113 10=.; insurance, .£99 2s. 9d. Tho receipts from the gas accounts are estimated to produce X 3385 13s. and tho expenditure is estimated at .£3130. which includes 031913 las. for tho purchase of gas.
