CITY COUNCIL ELECTION
TO THE ELECTORS. Tie ramifications of our City Council are now 60 extensive that it is necessary that tho councillors should concentrate their energies on the organisation and development of their present responsibilities. Now would be an inopportune time to start.out in a number of experimental projects. There will be plenty of time for that when we have all our affairs in apple-pie order. At the same time there are many of our undertakings, suoh as tramways, electric light works, recreation grounds, city beautifying, street cleaning, and other matters, which tend to make the life of the citizens more comfortable, in which I would heartily support a vigorous and progressive policy. While the council meets only, once a fortnight in. public, the main portion of the work'lis: done by councillors on tho various committees, - who meet frequently and, consult with the various experts. To do this'committee work thoroughly requires constant and close attention. By my previous experience on the council I havo a good knowledge of this work, and, having the time to spare, feel sure I can serve the city satisfactorily. I count it an honour to have previously gained your confidence, and am willing to give my best services to every class of the citizens if you again elect me. I trust you will put me at the head of tho poll and enable me to devote the business knowledge gained by twenty-five years' trading as the head of the firm of Thompson Bros., Ltd., to the best of nso in assisting the Mayor, councillors, and heads of departments in making Wellington tho best-governed city in the Dominion. W, J. THOMPSON. 11th May, 1912. -Advt. j i ! I
