WANGANUI ANNUAL MEETING. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) . - Wanganui, May 2. The business at tho annual meeting of llio Wanganui branch of the Fanners' Union was mostly of a routine nature. The attendanco was small, «iml tho want of interest by members in tho union's business was deplored by several speakers. Mr. Jas. Iliggie was elected chairman; Mr. J. I'olson, vice-chairman;- and Mr. Jno. Ifussell secretary and treasurer. Tho chairman and Mr. E. E. Fletchcr v.'ero appointed delegates to tho forthcoming provincial conference at Palnicrston,
ami were empowered to invite the conference to meet next year in Wangamii. It was decided to send a remit to tlio eunl'erenco that, as agricultural iimo is carried t'reo tin the railways i'or a hundred miles, the freight on busies slug should be raluccd.
