NOTES OX THE.BACING. (By Teleeraph.—Special Correspondent.) Blenheim, Stay 1. The lUverlands course was at its licit to-day, when a large croud turned out to see the racing in connection wjth the autumn meeting of the Marlborough I!acitiK Club. The weather was perfect, ami the meeting passed o\X without a hitch of any kind. B. IJeeley rode three winners during the afternoon, nnd S. .Ji'rid, who lias not rcfently been seen much in the saddle, also steeled home a couple out of as iir.iny mounts. Sinapis won the bip handicap comfortably, but Odessa may havo ilojio better had he not kept jumping; over some bare pitches. A good crowd of Wellington people were present, nnd the visiting , horses won every race on (he programme.

They were a poor lot in the Maiden Hack Jisice, and the fiirouritc, Aratiatia, won comfortably. He was on his iocs at tho starting 'gate, but Deeley pot him out first, and lie was not troubled throughout tho journey. Kxcitoment. the second liorse, occupied n similar position to Amberstono »t Kelson. Inclra wiia n. poor third, and the only other horse to finish was iiuupnra. Rustic went laino in the raco, and had to be pulled up.

The Open Welter was a good race. The Palniorston J."ort!t horse, Jlntloii', was favourite, with Merry Frank also well backed. Tho former could not find his feet, and was lust tho whole way, but Merry Frank was always in a good position on tho rails, nnd, after allowing Curator to lead until well down the running , , Hatch brought tho blnek gelding out, and won nicely by a length. Bally Shannon was on Curator's quarters. Negative found tho going against him, and, after getting out well, he faded out of it at the end of a furlong.

A very warm favourite, in Toney, tvas defeated by a narrow margin in tho Hack Welter Handicap. From a good start tho field moved oil' well together, with the exception of Astonishment, who was slow on his feet. Toney wns soon in front, but Foroshot, who ran in heavy bandages, and Mediterranean kept him at it in tho first few furlongs. Across the bottom of tho course, Aloha was in fonrth place, but sho came, round badly, and the favourite, acting well, got a. break on the field. Aloha put in a great effort in tho straight, and, the favourite tiring badly, the Porirna maro got tin in the last stride, and won by a head.

As was anticipated, the cup went to the St. Ambrose flllv Sjnapis, whoso form at Opaki and Tauherinikau was very good. She was always in a prominent position, and though covprms more ground than anything else in the race, won nicely at tho finish. Undecided was in a good position throughout, and had every chance, but he failed to show his best form. Odessa was in tho lead fjoing out of tho straight, and he was not headpd till well down the runnina;. though the field was always within striking; distance of him. C'oromandM wa= lieafen two furlongs from home. Sea Queen and St. Folix bath rnn fair races, but wore wanting at the finish.

A very good start was ma<!o in {he Autumn JTac,'< Handicap, but the field had not gone fnr on the way when Katun showed out. Leapuki and Allurement soon joined him, and the last-name.! two wore together when tho )>end was reached, ilore Dirge and Portland I.nily were lour lenztlw ofF. Katun crier! Piioui-li in the straight, and n hciid-and-head finish resulted in favour of LiMipuki. l'ortimul Lady was well back. Dirge was fourth, and Katun I'ist The first three favourites in the Ply. ins' Handicap finished ill the order indicated by the machine. who is much oh the big side, was quickly into Ws stride when the barrier went up, but Blue Lake was always fcoing as well m he .was, nnd. over the final fnrlopj. slie came away and won. comfortably. .Ntoii Ami wnn "in third place the whole way, and, Mr.rrp wn* fourth. The winner ran her best race In date, and liiii=hcd very well. The Iko stable companion? - . Gay LaivJiits nud .Mount Victoria, ran Grst and -'■cond in ths Elect.rio Handicap- Guy Lawless was very fractious at the barrier,,

and, after repeatedly gains through (lie tape?, she was sent to the outside. Kiiiina was quickest 1« begin, but -Mount Victoria soon joined lier, and this pair led Gay Lawless to the straight entrance. The fiivniiritc tlii;n came fast, ami, in the lust, hiili'-furli-iii-r, she ran away from the others. Rector Oirl was :i pour third. SECJND DAY'S ACCEPT.TNOES. (By 'felceraph.— Press Association.)
