SUBMARINE MINE. DANGER TO SHIPPING. By Telegraph—Press AEsociation-Coryrieht London, April 30. The American steamer Texas struck a submarine mine in the Gulf of Smyrna. One hundred and forty people were drowned. The Texas was a mail-boat, owned by a local company, whose steamers were trajisferred to the American flag at tho time of the anti-Greek boycott. There were 158 passengers on board, of whom 02 were eaved. The fate of the crew is unknown. CARGOES HELD UP. Constantinople, April 30. The cargoes held up owing to the closing of the Dardanelles are valued at ■5t.000,000. The daily loss to shipowners is set down at JC3OOO.
