THE PREMIER'S DESIRE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) y ~ Auckland, April 20. in his speech at the Moil. A. Jl. Jfycrs' reception, tho Premier said, with reference to a remark that Jlr. Jlvcrs had assumed the responsibilities of two men, that with tho enlargement of public functions and responsibilities tho work of (.lie. Oovernment was .such that it could not be performed oiliciently without increasing the number of Ministers. He had suggested, and would still suggest, that thoro should be two more paid Ministers. JL ii oy. could not govern tho affairs of tho Dominion properly unless thev moved about and came into contact with tho people. Mr. Myers was almost alarmed when he learned for what duties ho had been selected, but in entrusting him with those responsibilities, Mr. Mackenzie said, ho was awaro of tho quality of the man.
