THE MOIR CHALLENGE CUP. - The general handicap race by the Port Nicholson Yaoht Club for tho Aloir Challenge Cup took place in a. fresh N.N.W. breeze on Saturday last. The handicaps were:—Ailsa (Hamill Bros.), scr.; Mahina (Moore Bros.), 7min.; Viking (Messrs. Headland and Elton), 7niin.; Muritai (G. Hothamlsy), lOmin.; Windward (Messrs. An excellent raco resulted, but after the race of the previous week, it was thought that the had .been, rather generously" treated.' An excellent finish between Lizzie and Rawene resulted in Lizzie failing by twelve seconds to give the Omin. handicap required. The Viking hardly came up to ■ expectations, whilst the Muritai carried too much sail. The limit boat, Ethel, evidently found the conditions unsuitable, and, despite her handicap, retired at an early stage of the race. SWIMMING. COLLEGE OLD BOYS' CLUB. The sinoke concert of the Wellington Old Boys' College Swimming Club was hold last evening at Godber's rooms. There was a large attendance, and the musical items contributed by members were particularly good. Perhaps the best and most popular item was the whistling solo by Mr. Gardner, which was encored three times. Mr. Gardner leaves in July for England, where ho intends to go on the stage. Taking his items last night as a sample of his art, it rather appears as though ho will not long remain in the back ranks of the profession. The presentation of prizes took place daring the evening, and amongst other imposing cups, those presented by Walker and Hall for the "Flying Squadron," won by tho Thorndon Club, and that presented by Mr. Atkins, and won by Mr. B. Nelson, were prominent. The following were the toasts and musical items:—"The King," "Kindred Clubs," "The Centre" (Messrs. Levy and Atkins), nnd "The Press." Songs were contributed by Messrs. W. Gibbes, P. Fitzgerald, C. Keitl. B. Hyams, R. Notin, W. Goiulie, H. N. Fletcher, and A. Jacobs. Musical monologues by Messrs. G. Warren and Z. Wood were very popular, as was the recitation by 'Dr. Isaacs. The evening concluded after the health of the chairman (Dr. Young) had been proposed by Mr. R. Pope, and responded to by Dr. Young.
