BOXINd, ITEMS FROM AUSTRALIA. There is a boxing boom in Brisbane at present. On April 13 the two clever light-weights, "Jack" Rend and Arthur Douglas, mot in a 20-round contest, which ended in a draw. "Billy" Hanuan, well known in Now Zealand, was matched to meet Douglas last Saturday, and "Sid."' Sullivan and "Billy" Elliott have signed for a contest in tho Queensland capital next Saturday. At the Sydney Stadium on April 13, "Jack" Lester, the American, defeated ".Taci;" Howard, of Sydney, in ton rounds, tho contest being stopped by' the police officials. ROWING. AND THE PRINCE OF WALES. It is stated that during the Prince of Wales's residence at Oxford, he will oc-' cupy a special suite of apartments in tho cloisters of Magdalen College. Mr. Hanscll, who has been the Pnnco s tutor and constant companion for many years, will accompany his Koyal Highness to Oxford. „ , ~ It is further understood that tho young Princo will be allowed to follow that .particular lino of athletics which, most appeals to him.
