BOILER EXPLOSION BREAKS SHIP IN TWO.

WILD DISORDER ALLEGED. New York, April 19. The New York "World" publishes passengers' stories of the wreck. It is stated that an iceberg eighty feet in height was sighted a. quarter of a mile awsJy. When the Titanic crashed into it the engines were stopped and the bulkheads were closed almost simultaneously by the lovers on tho bridge. Captain Smith was on the bridge, and ordered all to take life-savers. The boats were lowered first. They contained more males than female's, as the men were first to reach tho dock. When tho women and children, appeared the rule "Women first!" was strictly observed. The officers drew their revolvers, but tho weapons , were not used in most cases. Tho impact of the collision made a hole in the vessel's starboard, admitting ice and water, and causing an explosion of the boilers which broke tho ship iu two. Other accounts allege that thero was wild disorder and a maniacal struggle for the boats by hysterical passengers. Passengers who would not givo their names declared that tlio captain and engineer committed suicido. These stories, owing to confusion on landing, could not be confirmed. A mass of ice, it is eaid, ripped the Titanic's side, like a gigantic can-opener, from stem to engine-room, and shortly before sho sank tho vessel broke in two abaft the engine-room, carrying down hundreds of persons grouped on the decks.
