CHURCH OF ENGLAND MEN'S SOCIETY.
A SUCCESSFUL YEAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, April 10. Tho third annual conference for Zealand of the Church of England Men's Society was opened this • afternoon. A large 'number of delegates were present ' from nil parts of the Dominion, and tho Dishop of Auckland (Dr. C'rosslcy) presided. The annual report, which was present-, cd by the Rev. J. D. Russell (Onmnrii), the general secretary, showed that tho society had flourished during the past year, both in regard to increasing membership and the creation of new branches, Tho former had risen from 2100 to 2300 and the latter from lit to 131. A prosperous year was looked forward to, It was resolved that a. committee bo appointed to consider the advisability of engaging a travelling organising secretary, and to report to a later sitting of the conference; that n committee be appointed to consider what improvements might bo suggested in organisation, the time and plnce of meeting of future conferences, and the federation of branches for representation at Dominion conferences: that the conference, deploring tho prevailing indifference of men to nublic worship, earnestly calls on the Church authorities In seek for the reasons and romedins; that it be a recommendation to the bishops of the province to appoint mission councils for undertaking- systematic parochial mission work, especial ly anion? men.
