Mr. and Mrs. St. Leger 1.1 y , Mn,n ' nmk express for the north and a tour of the King Country. St. Anne's Parish Fair, There was a very largo attendance at ho .opening ot the bazaar in St. Anne's Jarisi Halt on Saturday'night. The Vcn. Archdeacon Devoy, in introducing Sir J. Hard (who performed the opening ceremony , laid stress on the urgent necessity ot obtaining a hall for the social gatherings ot St. Amies parish, but as they had no money the scheme seemed to "(hem impossible. However, here was the hall built without, any money, and it seemed to nun, as he was sure. Sir Joseph Ward would admit, as good a piece of finance as any of Sir Joseph Ward'?. The object now was to pay for it, and judging l,v Iho large attendance on Saturday, and" the mam- attractive things offered for sale, it should be a very easy mailer. Sir Joseph Hard then formally declared tho bazaar open, and Lady Ward, who accompanied , inn, was presented with a beautiful br\quet of scarlet flowers, hv one of the little ones of the parish. Tho scheme of decoration used for the stalls was of floral design, and very charraing'it looked. Each stall represented some (lower—tho rose, the shamrock, the thistle, as well as tho modest little forget-me-not, being used, the rose stall, on which was displayed many beautiful and attractive things, was under the direction of Mcsdames Fitzgibbon and Collins. Tho colour of roses used for decoration was crimson, and these against a white background looked most eltcclive. The shamrock stall (Mesdames Scgrief and Gamble) also looked very dainty and pretty. The thistle (Mesdames Wyhe, Jfiddler, and Simon) and the forget-me-not (Mesdames Simon and Dnlton) were also charmingly decorated to represent their respective emblems. Besides tho fnney stalls I here was a most useful-looking produco stall, and at the door a booth where one could be refreshed with ices mid cool drinks. The exhibition of cooking by electricity, in charge of Mrs. Kirkwood, was very interesting. During the evening the sailor's hornpipe a coon dance and Urn Highland Fling were danced by some of the children. Judging from the attendance on Saturdav aud tho various attractions! set forth for this week, St. Anne's fair should prove a great success, and tho beautiful new hall of which Archdeacon Devoy and his helpers have every reason to feel proud, should soon have a substantial balance to its credit.
