There,was no alteration, as they came round the bend, except that Lady Medallist was closing oh the leaders." Entering the straight Sunlike still led from Lady Medallist, Alibi, and Lpchano. At tho distance Sunliko was done with, and Lady Medallist looked like winning. But Lochano then came with a great rattle, and,-wearing Lady Medallist down, won by half a length. From a fair start Ariom was the first to show in front, and was followed past the stand by Red Lupin, Sea 'Queen, and Golden Loop. This position'was maintained past the six nnd four-furlong posts, but at the willows the field began to close
up. Red Lupin was in the lead when the straight was entered, but half way down tho straight Sea Queen came to-the front. Sinapis made a late run on the inside, and was only just beaten on the post by a head. A length separated the second and third horses. Ariom was fourth, Merrivonia fifth, and Golden Loop sixth. Mount Victoria rushed to the front at the rise of the tapes, and maintained a substantial lead till Hearing the straight, when King's Favourite came fast. A good finish resulted in a verdict for King's Favourite by half a length. The favourite, Peroneal, was about two lengths away. Submersion, who was badly left at'fhe post; ran' into fourth place. 'Colleen Mary ran six furlongs in lmin. 17=ec, Masterpiece and Countermine a milo comfortably in lmin. 48sec. Autummis beat Winning Way over six furlongs in lmin. 10 l-ssec, finishing well. Effort beat Mira over six furlongs in lmin. 17"1 : 55ec., and tho former could have bettered the time. Odessa and Turna were together at tho end of seven furlongs done in lmin. 31
