NEW SECTION TO BK OPE.NET) Otf SATURDAY. The Waikohu-Otoko section of the East Coast railway is to be officially opened on Saturday next, instead of on tho following Holiday, as was announced yesterday. Tho alteration in date is due to representations by a number of people ia, the district, concerned that the opening of the railway ou Easter Monday would interfere with the success of a _sporis gathering at Gisbomo. Tho Hon. W. D. S. Mncdonald leaves Wellington to-morrow to attend tho opening ceremony. Ho will deal with a number of Departmental matters while in the Gisbornc district, but is anxious to return to Wellington as soon as possible. Tho section about to be opened is eight and a half miles long. Formation work has been completed for some distanca ahead of the completed lcii.ilh, hut Iho work of laving rails has just commenced, so that it will be some time before a lurther section is opened. .
