MINERS' LEADERS AND THE BILL. YORKSHIRE POLICE STONED. (Ree. March 29, 11.40 p.m.) London, March 29. The miners' leaders havo returned to the colliery districts, whero they are describing the Bill as a victory for the men. Tho prospects of tho men's ballot on the Bill are favourable, though there is -a strong body in South Wales opposed to resumption. The presence of the military at Chirk, in North Wales, has exercised a sobering influence. All tho pits are working. Tho police were stoned by the mob at Mexborough, Yorkshire, and retaliated by a baton charge. Disturbances havo r!so occurred nt Walsall, Stafford shire, where thero aro two thousand strikers, and at Cannock Chase, in tho same county, tho strikers have compelled the Bloxwich Colliery to cease work. SYNDICALISM. DEBATE IN PARLIAMENT. London, March 28. In the House of Commons, the Hon. W. G. A. Ormsby-Gore, Unionist member for tho Denbigh district, raised a debate on syndicalism. Mr. C. L. Hobhouse, Chancellor cf tho Duchy of Lancaster, said he did not think the doctrine had a real hold on tho British working classes. There were many causes of unrest. Tho Government was willing to grant a wido inquiry into tho causes for the rise in tho cost of living and of industrial unrest. Tom Mann, tho Socialist agitator, under arrest for having "feloniously and maliciously publishod certain matter, called tho Syndicalist, with tho object of endeavouring to seduce persons serving in his Majesty's Forces from their duty and allegiance to the King, and of inducing certain persons to traitorous and mutinous practice, contrary to the provisions of the Incitement to Mutiny Act of 1797," has boon released on bail, having promised not to repeat his remarks pending his trial.
