Collctt was ordered to pav ,£32 3s. to the Empire Loan and Discount Co., Ltd., by instalments of 10s. per month. In tho case of J. Smith and Co. v. Ci. F. J. Gardiner, a claim for £j 10s., defendant was ordered to pay by monthly instalments oi' 10s. POLICE CASES. John M'Vicar was fined .£) for breaking a prohibition order. Thomas Fallon and Alexander Hunter pleaded guilty to charges of ship desertion.- Detective-Sergeant M'llvency siated that Fallon had been engaged in Now Zealand, and Hunter at Liverpool. His Worship said that in those circumstances Fallon was uot liable to imprisonment, but Hunter was. Hunter was sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment; and Fallon was fined J.'3, in. default seven days' imprisonment. George Tibbs, who was accused of breaks ing three panes of glass at a building in which a railway employees' social was being held, said that lie knew nothing of the matter, a.s he had been too drunk at the time. Two railway employees gave evidence that the defendant appeared on the premises, and threatened thorn with violence, and broke the glass mentioned in the charge with a shovel. Tibbs was fined <£1. and ordered to make good the damage (155.). John I'urcell O'Brien was remanded till April D on a charge of assault. Mr. William Gtinther Gardlier, British Vice-Consul at New York, was married recently at St. Patrick's Cathedral, New York, by Cardinal Farley, to jliss Marion Edith Kegan, daughter of the proprietor of the Knickerbocker Hotel. The wedding ceremony was the most elaborate ever held in the cathedral. ' Mr. C. F. G. Masterroan, M.P., TinderSecretary of State for the Home Depart- ; ment, lias been presented with an address in recognition of his services as member ! for West Ham (North) from 1906-1911. i Mrs. Masterman was presented with a gold and platinum watch. Prior to setting out on the westward mackerel voyage, which is carried on from Newlyn, Cornwall, local fishermen 1 took their nets to St. Margaret's Church, at Lowestoft, where a service of intercession was held, in tho course of which the rector took the nets in his hands and I blessed them.
