A GOOD DAIRY SHORTHORN.
The "Breeders' Gazette" publishes . the following record by months of the dairy Kliorthorn cow, Charlotte 13, a seven-year-old beast, owned by Mr. \V. \Y. Knapp, of Michigan:—January 7 to 31, .1911, 1.202.6; February, 1,G36.7; March, 1,710.3; April, 1,613.2; May, 1,503.5; June, 1.382.7; Julv, 1,259.9; August, 1,180.8; September, 1,013.8; October, 1,050.9; November, 878.5; December, 796.9; January, 1-0; 1912, 135.5 pounds, making a total of 15,-101.3 pounds of milk, averaging per cent, fat, +.933, equivalent to 712.0 pounds, 85 per cent, butter. This record was made under absolutely normal everyday farm conditions. Had this cow been forced for a record she would undoubtedly have established a new record for butter production for the breed. She was 104 days in calf at the end of her
