(From Our Special Correspondents.) FEILDING. It is reported that an up-to-date opera house is to bo built shortly in a prominent place in Feilding. The enterprise will be in tho hands of a company, and an opportunity will be given to local residents of taking up shares. The death. of Mr. William Boddy, of Bunnythorpe, which took place yesterday, removes another old resident from tho ranks of our settlers. Mr. Jloddy, who was about SO years of age, had been in ill-henl f h for sonic time. Ilis widow was tho first teacher of the Hunnythorpo school. There aro four married sons, and one married daughter. The family is highly esteemed in the district.

CARTERTON.

The swimming bath constructed at tho Belvedere School has sufficiently far advanced to allow of the children having a swim. Totara Lodge, U.A.0.D., has decided to ask the Masterton Friendly Societies' Council to play the annual football tournament at Masterton this year.

GREYTOWN.

Mr. J. D. lleagcrty, one of G.reytown's prominent citizens and nil old-tiuie Mayor of tho borough, Ims decided, at tho request of a. large number of burgesses, to again offer his services as Mayor.

SHANNON.

In spite of the showery weather there nas a large muster of players on the Howling Green on St. Patrick's Day, when x pa.irs tourney was held. A number of visiting howlers from Palmerston North, Levin, and Otaki took part. A local pair (W. H. Gunning and G. 11. Stephenson) qualified to play a Palmerston North brace in the final. Mesdames Carter and Gunning supplied afternoon tea. There was also a. good attendance on the tennis courts. 1 Thero was a very large audience at the Catholic concert, held in the Druids' Hail, on Monday nicrlit. .Mrs. Dallon, of Wellington, was at the piano, and tho following item* made, tip the programme;— "The Cousins" (duct by Misses Robinson rud M'Loujhlin); recitation, Miss Mumi'r.rd; songs, Airs. Costtllo, Wellington; Sf.anisli v.alt'/., in costume, Miss Macdonr.ld; song, Mrs. Diipree; song, Mr. J. Prosper; song, .Miss M'Loughlin; Aeolian harp solo, Air. B. Hayes; sangs, Air. Devine; son,'?, -Miss Muiiiford; Scotch song, Sir. A. Yates; song, Airs. Hall; Irish jig, Air. J. Curtail; song, Miss Robinson; song, Jlr. .T. 11. Stahsell. The Gotham Quartet (Messrs. Tilling, I'ovis, liatchelar, and Couper) brought down the house with their local allusions, and were recalled Bevcral times. Air. J. Traynor, on behalf of tho committee, thanked all those who had made the entertainment such a success. A dance followed, at which there vas a large attendance.
