A SERIOUS ALLEGATION.

A meeting' of the Waikato No-License Council last night resolved that the following resolution he sent to General Godley: "This council, while appreciating tho great efforts being made for national defence, views with alarm the conduct of Territorials on Saturday night, and tho fact that so many of them were under tho influence of liquor." The police, interviewed by a Waikato "Times reporter regarding a resolution bv the Xo-J.ieense Council concerning Territorials and drink, deny that; there was any excessive drinking in the. town on Katurilnv night. They state that they made visits to the hotels, having heard thero was a possibility of youths under ago procuring liquor, hut saw no signs of drunkenness, though at one hotel they saw a number of Territorials drinking. They satisfied themselves that those drinking were over age, and quito entitled to toko liquor if they so wished. There was a possibility of drink being smuggled out, but they saw nothing more than the usual hilarity met with in holiday crowds. On St. Patrick's J)ay (hey saw nothing out ef the way. One Territorial out of (he wholo batch was before the Court yesterday on ;i charge of being inebriated, and was fined.
