Captain 11. Mitchell, who has acted ns superintendent of the Dnnedin City Firo Brigade since ISO 2, has been compelled, owing to failing health, to resign his position. In addition to twenty years' servieo in tlio city, Captain Mitchell was captain of the Port Chalmers Brigade for fourteen years, and prior to coming to Dunedin ho was an active member of the Naseb.v Fire Brigade.

Dr. Teiclu'lmann, who has been for 15 voars medical superintendent at the Wcst-l.-iiid Hospital, leaves on Monday for a trip to Europe for the purpose of study at the Medical Science Hospital.
