The programme (according to the carnival committee) is the most ambitious ono ever presented locally, the star attraction being the mile championship of the club, which will be contested by three young swimmers, each of whom succeeded last Saturday in beating the club standard time of thirty minutes for tho. distance. B. Newman, a recent arrival from Otago (which province he represented at the recent New Zealand championship meeting), will be pitted against S. Murrell and A. Crowther in this race. Forty schoolboys have entered for the Provincial Schools Championship, two distances of which , are to be swum. The full width of the bath is to be utilised, so that events can he got oif simultaneously in both the outer and inner portions. An obstacle race, which promises to be really comic, and several handicap races, help to complete a first-class programme. BOXING. AFTER THE FIGHT. GRIFFIN STILL UNCONSCIOUS. Ho stated that if it were proposed to continue house cricket matches in tho future he would donate a shield or cup for competition amongst the house tennis on terms to lie arranged by tho House Teiajs' Management Committee. The matter will be dealt with at the next annual meeting of the House Teams' Association.
