* IRELAND DEFEATS GRIFFIN. , (By Telegraph—Press Association.! Napier, March 13. \ large number of spectators witnessed the boxing contest between "Barney" Ireland (Waipawia), champion middleweight of Now Zealand (list. 21b.), and "Jim" Griffin (Greymonth), ex-champion middle-weight of Australia (list. 71b.), in the Municipal 'J'hiratre, Waipawa, tonight, for a purse of JMO. There were to be fifteen three-minute rounds. Tho first round saw sorao vigorous boxing, bolh men mixing matters willingly. Jrelaud took entire charge of tho second round, briflin being prncticallv knocked out when the referee ("Tim" Tracy) stopped the fight.
