At Aldington live stock market there wit" Hf'u entries of stock, and the attendance wus larger than usual. Good clashes of store owes and lambs sold at late rates but inferior descriptions were easier. Fat lambs were down about Is. per hoad. Fat prime wethers sold at good prices, but other classes of fat sheep were easier. Fat cuttle showed no change in values, and fat pigs showed a decline in prices all round. Store pigs and Etore and dairy cattle sold well., . There was a slight reduction in the number of 'tore sheep offered. The bulk of the offerings comprised ewes, the balance being principally lambs of all classes and a, few neus of wethers. Among tin? ewes γ-crc some good 'fetation lines, most ol which were in nice condition. The yarding again included a proportion of oversea, sheep, many of which lacked both condition and duality. Oood ewes sold well up to lats rates, but inferior and travel-stain-cd lots and aged sheep met with weaker competition. The few lots of forward rape lambs also sold well, but ordinary stores changed hands at lower rate?. There was practically no change in the demand or pricos for store wethers. Two-tooth cwea made 15s. 6(1. to 17s. 6d.; four-tooths 14s. |6d. to 15s. 5d.; four, six and eight-tooth oversea sheep, 145.; sood lines of locally bred, 15s. 6d. to 165.; fresh mouths, 14s. to 15s. 6d.; sound mouth, 11s. to 13?.; aged, Bs. to 9s. 6d.: best rape lambs, 12s. 6d. to 13s. 4d.; medium.. Bs. 6d. to lie. oil.; culls, 5= to 6s. 6d.; forward wethers, to 155.; others. Its. 6d. to 13s. There were 6018 fat lambs penned, or about 630 more than the previous week. Included in the entry were several, large prime lines from the northern district, and thn quality as a. whole was an improvement upon last week s yarding. There was not quite such keen competition on the part of some of the export buyers, and prices ell round wore about Is. per head lower. Th; basis upon which export buyers were operating was sd. per lb. up to 421b. weight, and 4Jd. per lb. for overweight and secondary quality, 'lhere were 5250 taken for export. The range of prices was- Tegs 16s. to 17s. Ud.; and ordinary w=ig'hts, lls. 10(1 to 15s. 10d. There was a large yarding of fat sheep, including some good lines of wethers. There was good competition at firm rates for wethers, but all other classes were easier, medium and inferior ewes being down about Is. per head. The range of prices was: Prime wethers. 17s. to 19s. Bd.; others 13s. 10d. to 16s. 6d.; prime ewes, 13s. to 16s. 11(1.; others, Bs. to 12s. 6d. 'i'h* supply of beef totalled 198 head, or 200 fewer than Inst week. The quality was good, especially that of the heifers. Thero was an irregular demand, but on the whole prices showed little or no change, the average being equal to 245. to 275. per 1001b. Steers made £8 10s. to £12 55.; heifers, £5 7s. 6d. to £8 17s. 6d.; and cows, £5 15s. to £8 17s. 6d. Veal calves sold at 4s. 6d. to £3, and tip to £3 18s., for extra large, the entry being a. small one. A small yarding of store cattle sold well, yearlings making 315.: fifteen to eightecnmonths, £3 13s. to £3 17s. 6d.; two-year ste-rs, £4 155.; two-year heifers. £3 17s. 6d.; and dry cows, 255. to -£4 7s. 6d. Dairy cows sold at £4 10s. to £9 10s., and extra to £10 15s. There was a moderate entry of fat pigs of varied quality, and there was on easier tone in the market, orices being under those of late sales. Choppers made 655. to £5 155.; large baconers, 60s. to 705.; extra, to 80s.; smaller, 50s. to 575. 6d. (equal to s}d. to 53d. per lb.); large porkers, 425. 6d. to 475. 6d.; smaller, 355. to 40s. (equal to 6d. per lb.). Stores of all descriptions sold under keen competition, large sorts making 40s. to 455.; iridium, 30s. to 385.; small, 18s. to 285.; and weaners, 12s. 6d. to 14s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—At Waikonae on Tuesday we had a good yarding of sheep, which met with rather a dragging sale. A fnir yarding of cattle met with good competition. At the end of the day most of the yarding changed hands at the following quotations:— Sh'cp: Two-tooth wethers, lls. to 12s.
