Tho Strike Committee has declared the strike off, Mr. Coyne, the chairman, in offi.>.;">• announcing the decision, said that all trades still out, including the wharf labourers and coal miners, would resume tomorrow. Tho committee had been enabled to take this step because it had Tccoi'cd All assurnnco from tho Employers' Federation that thero would be no victimisation. It had also tho assurance of tho Sintliem transport unions that they wd.ilil s> In ml by the Brisbane unions for six mo.'iths if necessary. The announcement was made lo a large gathering of strikers. In a later speech, Mr: Coyae >laiMc:l that the strikers had fought prolwWj t:.e bost industrial fight in the worl.l's Ustory. They had been opposed lrnu.l ferocity, a lying press, and every force of capital. • It was not the Strike Committee's fault that the port of Brisbane was closed. The committee had moved to alter that state of affairs, but tho employers had declined to meet them. The assurance from the Employers' federation covered most callings except (ramways and railways. Tho tramway and railwayman who were out would not suffer, however, as they would be provided for for some time to come. In order to ensure tho safety of tho workers, the Strike Committee would not disband. The transport workers all along tho coast would come out if instructed by the committee at any time.
STRIKERS TO RESUME TO-DAY,
APPEAL TO TRAMWAYMEN. (Rec. March 7, 0.25 a.m.) Brisbane, March 6. Mr. Coyne has asked the trnmwayinen and railwaymeu to remain solid, and not apply for work at present, as they might take'a job from another -unionist. They bod nothing to fear, as assistance was coming from all parts of the- Commonwealth and New Zealand. The strikers will resume at 10 a.m. tomorrow, or as early as possible. The general belief is that the strike has ended. The secretary of the Employers' Federation has expressed his gratification that the strike is off, and hopes that business will soon, be in a normal condition. SYDNEY TROUBLE ENDS. (Rec. March. 7, 0.25 a.m.) Sydney, March 6. The settlement of Ihe strike at Bris- ■ bane ends the waterside trouble at Sydney. The wharf labourers at 'a meeting to-night decided to work all boats and all cargoes to-morrow. Large-quan-tities of goods for Brisbane are awaiting shipment. TRAMWAY STRIKE THREATENED. TROUBLE IN ADELAIDE. Adelaide, March 6. The Adelaide tramway men decided by a. 16 to 1 majority to strike unless their grievances are -remedied by the Arbitration Court. The matter is now before the Court. ARBITRATION CASE IN SYDNEY. Sydney, March 6. The Arbitration Court is hearing the case of the Tramway Association against various companies. Mr. Warton, general secretary of the association, declared tliat the men in Brisbane and Melbourne afraid to identify themselves ( with '.lie association for fear of victimisation.
