The Irving Season. While in Dunedin, Sirs. It. B. Irving was taken to see the Karitano Home, in which she was most interested, by Dr. Truby King. Viewing the Scenery. A unique journey has been performed by Dr. Sinclair Kennedy and Mrs. Kennedy, two tourists from the United States,' says the "Otago Daily Times." Their idea is that by travelling by rail, sea, and coach, a great deal is missed, especially good river scenery. The doctor therefore employs a Canadian canoe, and last Sunday he and Mrs. Kennedy left Lnke Slanapouri and traversed the river Waian as far as Tuatapere—a journey of over CO miles. Kn route the rapids in the stream were successfully shot, rnd the tourists speak in glowing terms of their experiences. Sliss Janie Kirk has returned from a visit to Nelson. Nurse Slacandrew returned to , Wellington on Saturday from her visit to Nelson. Owing to the heavy rain on Saturday the garden party for the W.C.T.U. could not bo held. II has been decided to hold it on Wednesday next, and if the day is not fine an "At Home" will be held in the rooms, Constable Street. An attractive programme of solos and recitations is being arranged for. Tickets for Saturday's function will bo available on Wednesday.
