PALMERSTON BAY BY DAY.

» (Br TelcEraDh.-Sosclal Corrcsnond'ent.l Palmerston North, March 3. At nn early hour on Saturday the five-month-oltl child of Mr. and Mrs. G. Caddy, of l J almor»ton North, was found dead ill bed. The child was unwell during the night, and Mrs. Caddy had to get up two or three times to see. to her. She attended her again about 7 o'clock this mc'i'ning, and thc-n went to sleep. On waking at 8 o'clock she found tho child lying dead in her arms. An inquest will be held. A lady slaying at a local hotel has just sustained a serious loss. She left three rings, valued at nearly .£lOll, in the bathroom, and did not miss them till next morning, when a search was made, but the rings had disappeared. A meeting of directors of a number of dairy factories was held here on Saturday,' when the mailer of establishing a factory for the manufacture of casein wa; further considered. No final decision wa= arrived at, a committee being set up to make inquiries. The liuimythorpe Dairv Company has decided to instal a plant even if the other companies decide agaitisl manufacturing casein.
