A MYSTERT SOLVED. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, March 3. The course of true love lias been at the root of a mystery which has just been solved by tho Rcmuern Road Board. For some time past complaints have been received of the lamps not boinp alight in somo of tho streets of the district during certain hours of tho evening. Tho lamplighter, on being questioned, stated positively that the lamps in question wero regularly lighted, and in order to ascertain the causo of their not keeping alight a watch was kept. It was discovered that certain lamps were inconveniently near the pates at which certain young men are in the habit of saying "μ-aod night" to their sweethearts after their evening walks. Consequently, Iho leve-slrickon swains have resorted "to the expedient of turning out the lanijjs, and omitting t> light them again. One or two of the offenders have been warned, and it is not likelv that there will be any further interference with (he lamps b'u lor as they aro concerned.
