LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.
THE GUTTY'S STRIKE. Sir,—l am pleased at the suggestion made by the Advisory Committee of the Farmers' Vnion, at a recent meeting held at Falmerston North, urging that if necessary tho fanners should assist the companies in their ttrugglo .against the insistent demands of the Labour unions. It seems to mo that the unions, having brought that despicable body, styled the City Council, to its knees, having failed hitherto in theil direct attacks on the farming community, are determined if possible to get at thorn through the freezing companies, and should the companies bo forced to succumb to the present attack, it will be a sorry day for tho farmers of New Zealand, both great and small. Of course the workers fail to realise that, iu bringing disaster on tho farming community, no matter what their immediate guiiis might be, in tho long run tho ruin would overtako them also. But that phase of the matter is one which tho average worker has neither timo nor inclination to think out. Instead of thinking for himself, he prefers to blindly obey the behests of a few designing agitators, who mako a royal living by persistent mischief-making, knowing full well that should they be unable to make the workers discontented, their services would bo of no value, and their fat livings would vanish. Sir, 1 am satisfied that should the companies find they require assistance during this struggle, they will meet with a ready response from the farmers, both in the Manawatu and Wairarapa districts. Apologising for trespassing on your valuable space,—l am, etc., A SMALL PARMER. Masterton, February 15, 1912,
