"SMALLEST GAIN FOR YEARS." (By Tolerraph- -Press Association.! Palmerston N., February 13.... At a meeting of Hie Congregational I liioii to-day the Hev. .1. M'Chtro (Dunedin) read an address on "The Theological Trend of British Congregationalism." The old committee of (lie. examining Iward was re-elected with the addition of the Rev. Messrs. (Uasson „nd llircl. On the recommendation of the Finance Committee it was decided to grant (.ireoul.ino 4:125 and Tiinaru ,£1011; also that, (ho following granl.« be allowed for the ensuing year:—Te Kuiti, .£51); IMopio, x\W; Raglan, .£7O: Mungawai, ,£7O; Kawhia, J.'1I0; Sydenham, .£BS; St. Clair, 4.'15; Nelson, .£lO 55.; Jlaslerlon, .£75.
It was decided that the following allocations be obtained from the district 1 : treasurers for the ensuing veari—Auckland, .£22(1; Wellington, .Cllit; Canlerbiirv. Mil; Otago. .£132. Messrs. T. Forsyth and A. W. lievan were appointed to wtiit on the Otago committee with a view to persuading- monikers to collect the full amount of (ho allocation. It was decided, on the recommendation of the Finance Commillee: (I) That no removal expenses lie paid in future to churches other than mission churches: (2) lliat Ihe sum of .1113 on the balancesheet for removal of ministers be struck out: (3) that the sum of .CB7 15s. 10*1.. loans due to extension account, be Iransi'ered to capital account. The registiai's report was rend. Memat Hie close of the year, totalled 2,32. this being a net gain of 192 the smallest: gain for some veiirs. The Sunday School figures arc rather belter.
