PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
» The fortnightly meeting of the Pctosie Borough Council was held last night, 'j'hwo were present: Jlr. J, W, ll'Ewan (Mayor), and Councillors Short, List, Wakeham, Brocklebank, Cox, Lodder, Burridge, Trucmnn, and Piper. The Petone Show Ground Syndicate wrote, disclaiming all liability for damages caused through Hie barb-wire fencing on sections in Cuba Street. They claimed that the work hail been done by the borough at their expense, and t'hat therefore tho work hail presumably been done to satisfy the requirements of the borough by-laws.—The letter was referred to the engineer for report. The returning officer wrote, stating that the approximate amount: of Pe'one's share in the expense of the Licensing Committee election in the Ilutt electorate would l>o .£125. The returning officer was instructed to proceed with the election preliminaries, and was authorised to incur certain expenses suggested.
