(Christchurch) of •£6335 has been accepted for the erection of new three-storied brick premises in the Avenue for Hallenstein Bros. At its last meeting the Wanganui County Council discussed n proposal by the chairman (Mr. W. J. Poison) for the abolition of the five road boards in (he eount.v and placing their affairs directly within the council's jurisdiction. The council decided to refer the matter to the boards for their consideration before taking any further step. It. is underskod that there is likely to be considerable opposition on the part of the road boards Notwithstanding the amendment last session to the Public Reserves and Domains Act, the Wanganui River Trust is in no belter position regarding the leasing of its land than formerly. At a meeting of the Trust yesterday a letter was read from its solicitors staling that (he Trust did not possess any more newpowers than if previously hail, and could not issue leases for any period, and that the Governor had empowered leases only for 21 years. It was resolved that the chairman (Mr. T. D. Cummins), and Mr. Veitch, M.P.. interview the Under-Secre-tary of Lands, and if matters nre found a< represented by the solicitors, an endeavour will be made to get a short Empowering Bill passed to enable the Trust (o give iiMses for 42 years with compensation for improvements. Nothing doubtful in "MON'TSERRAT" Lime Juice. It's good and pure. Being the genuine juice of cultivated lime fruit "MONTSETiRAT" is a grand healthv drink for the hot w«V her.—Advt
