THE NAVY LEAGUE.
Tho monthly meeting of the Navy League local executive was held late yesterday afternoon at the Chamber of Commerce, and was presided over b.v Mr. J. B. Harcourt vice-president. The financial report on the welcome to Admiral King Hall in December showed receipts £-i 9s. 3d., and expenses .£2l ISs., mainly made up of rent of Town Hall and cost of the moving pictures. Other expenses wero passed for payment aggregating .Cl 2 las. lid., part of which is recoverable from Loudon for postages on "The Navy." Tho commander of the Now Zealand drillship wrote in reply to inquiries made on behalf of intending recruits that H.M.S. Pioneer would not arrive at Wellington (ill April 15, and would stay hero for alwut a month. Tho Royal Naval Registrar submitted for the league's information extracts (already published) from the "New Zealand Gazette" of January 11, regarding special facilities now to be afforded New Zea-land-born subjects who may desire to enter as engine-room artificers in the Royal Navy. Correspondence was submitted from London, and several NewZealand branch secretaries, and from Major Burlinson ro the entry of boys in (he naval service. Five fresh adult subscribers were reported to have enrolled since the last meeting of the league. The credit balance of the branch was stated to bo JJ67 Bs. 2d.
