THE FEILDING SHOW.

PEOPLE'S DAY. FULLY 3000 ON TUB GKOUXD, DBy Telosraph—Special Koportcr.) Feilding, February 7. The second day of the I'eilding showwas favoured with perfect weather, and tho gathering was quito a fitting reward for tho efforts of the committee of tho A. and P. Association. Fully 3000 people Tvero present. Tho yarding of fat sheep ngaiu camo in for much remark, and the judge (Mr. T. W." M'Kenzie, of Masterton) states that they aro quito as good as liis experience can recall at any I\ T ow Zealand show. There was not a faulty lamb in the whole lot penned in one class," although ono or two of the export sheep •were not finished enough for that purpose, and were on tho small side. * Speaking at the annual smoke- concert in regard to tho sheep entries, Mr. Little stated that he had been present at tho first show of tho association, and many Feilding and other shows, but he did not think that it would be possible to find — either-in tho North or South Islands— i better exhibit.of fat lambs. In fact, there woro pens of lambs in the present show which could not be bettered in New Zealand or Australia. Tho Southdowns especially were a very excellent class. The Totalisator. Opportunity was taken by Mr. V. T. lethbridgo (luring tho course of the gathering to say a word on behalf of tho totalisator. JIo stated that without the rovenuo from the machine tho Feilding Jockey Club could not bo said to have treated the A. and 1 , . Association nearly as liberally as it had done previously, and no one conld say that the Jockey Club had not treated them libe'rally (Applause.) Referring to tho recent Totalisator Commission, ho remarked that it had amused him to read the evidence of a i-overend gentleman (Mr. Isitt), who was beforo the commission. What, ho asked, did that man .know of either the totalisator or tho bookmaker? And yet this reverend gentleman professed to know so much and to speak with authority. These peoplo who allege that they know so much about the matter never went on . to a racecourse to see things fox , theiufeelves. Parade of Stock, The parado of stock brought out a itrong array of horses, but strong as they were numerically, they wero not (according to , the judge of harness hordes, Mr. Jefferson, of Wanganui) of ,the best quality. In fact, Mr Jefferson stated that he could not compliment those concerned on this .section. One could pick tho first, second, and third horses all right, but tho balimco wero not up to a very high stan-, da I'd. The Challenge Cups. The awards in connection with most of the challenge cups and trophies were decided to-day. Mr. S. I\\ Lancaster had a big innings in these, in addition to his .scores published yesterday. He won Mr. ti. Newman's cup for most points in grade dairy cattlo outright, and also carried oft the Quibell Challenge Cup for most points in purebred sheep other than Komneys, as well as the challenge cup presented by Mr. W.
