NGUTUAWA ROMNEYS.
The Eomney siro has come greatly into favour of late years, as nothing better can be found for the purpose of crossing with the Lincoln. The Koimiey is naturally a hardy sheep, of robust constitution, ami matures early, thus supplying what is lacking iu the Lincoln, at the same time cutting a heavy fleece cf fine, lustrous wool that is much sought after by American buyers, both at the Home ami colonial sales. The Xgutuawa purebred skeep to be ollereil by public auction at the Sulway Showgrounds by Messrs. M'GrPßor Bros., nexi. Thursday, should realise lurli prices, as the Hock lias an excellent re-nutation throughout the Doininieii, and other dispersal sales nf the same breed have been very successful, notably that held recently by the oxecutor of tho late Mr. Wheeler. ' The flock was founded by the vendors' father, Mr. James M'Gregor, 'Wangaohu, with ewes bred by Mr. I. Sykes, and taken over by ths present owners in 10(10. Great care has been exercised since the above date in selecting stud rams for tho purpose of keeping the flock up to tho high standard it has enjoyed for so many years, it being common knowledge that pries was not considered when the right oiiimal was available. Messrs. M'Grejtor Bros, have been very successful in the show ring, and at times when meeting keen com petition. At the Mastertoii show, in addition to other prizes, the :'5guinea cup for the bfft per. of four shearing rams was won bv the- Xgutuawa (lock by machine-shorn sheen, and the utilily valno of the rains when subseciucntly offcred at the ram fair was culcgiscd by farmers giving ten guineas each for tho first two pens of flvo offered.
