Mr. Irving Ay ebb, representing Messrs. J. and N. Tait, arrived in Wellington yesterday to make arrangements for a farewell concert by the Royal Huddersfield Bellringxirs on Friday next in the Town Hall. Mr. Webb is also doing preliminary work in connection with the forthcoming tours of Genoral Sir Robert Baden Powell; also Madame Kirkby Liinn, the geat contralto.

The death occurred at Carterton yesterday of Mr. John Jones, aged 7(i, one of the pioneers, of tho district. Death was the result of heart seizure. Deceased was a prominent Methodist and an esteemed settler.
Lady Kathleen Somerset, who has been on a visit to New Zealand, left Auckland by the Mantua yesterday on her return to England.—Press Association.
Ml'. Tlios. Broadbelt, bead machinist of Tiib Dominion office, who is leaving Wellington for Christchurch, .was presented' last evening by members of the staff with a handsome silver tea service, as a memento of esteem. The presentation was made by Mr. W. W. Todd, who' referred to Mr. Broadbelt's sterling personal qualities. Mr. Broadbelt replied in suitable terms.
Great regret was expressed at I'almerston North yesterday when it became known that Mr. C. J. Tregurtha bad passed away. The late Mr. Trcgurthu came to Palmcrston eight years ago, ami entered business as a storekeeper at the I'oiTac-a End, where he also acted as postmaster. Since that period ho has earned the respect ,of a very wide cirelo of friends by his sterling qualities, hi church matters ho.took a great interest, Having been a trusteo of St, Paul's Methodist Church, in connection with which ho did a considerable amount of valuable work. Mr. Tregurtha was born in Cornwall, and with. his wife camp to New Zealand some thirty-nino years ago. Shortly after his arrival he received an appointment as lighthouse-keopeir, and Iras subsequently stationed at various lighthouses round tho New Zealand coast, his last station being at the French Pass. He subsequently decided to come to Palmerston North, where he. entered business. He leaves a widow, six sons, and a daughter, to whom the sincerast. sympathy will be extended in their bereavement.
