SUMAIARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for high southwesterly winds generally for a short tinis, with , squally and showery weather, probably much colder, and snow on some of the higher levels in the south, A rising barometer is anticipated cverywherj. Sain has fallen in most districts, anil strong and squally wostcrly and northerly winds blew ip the night, hut have changed {to southerly in many parts to-day. Hastings, January 18.—Rain commenced to fall at mid-day, and continued throughout the afternoon. 1
