4 SETTLEMENT LIKELY. The oonferenco between representatives of Uio Waterside Workers' Union of New Zealand, who happen to bo allied witli tho New Zealand Federation of Labour, and tho representative committee of Binployers of cargo workers, sat nil day yesterday. Late in the evening, * when the conference rose, nothing definite had bpen accomplished, and tho opinion of those present was that nothing would bo ready for declaration to tho general public for several days. It is stated freely, however, that there is every prospect of an amicable settlement in tUa end.
