A STRIKE POSSIBLE.

4 COUNCIL AND TEAMWAYMEN. Tho somewhat strained relations bo tween the City Council and its tramway employees, over tho retention or transfer of Inspector Puller, aro unlikely to cntor any hew pliaso until Inspector Puller's case comes again before tho council on January 25. On that date tho council' will deal with a motion, of which notice has been given by Councillor Shirtcliffe, to' rescind the resolution passed by tho council souno time ago, and providing that Inspector Puller should bo transferred to other duties than thoso of ticket inspecting. From information obtained yosterday it seema l plain that tho union will adopt meantime tho tactics of "Brer Babbit," and leave it to the council to make the next move. It is however, that the union has no intention oi retreating from the position it has taken up in regard to Inspector Fuller, and will persevere, :10b any cost, in its demand for his transfer. It was learned yesterday from a reliable source that tho union, if the council should •exonerate' Mr. Puller, and retain him as a ticket;]'nspcctor, will in tho last resort order a general strike, with a view to procuring his removal. Tho members of tlio executive arc said unanimously to favour this course, and it is nndorstood that, at a,riyrato, a big majority of the men entertain tho view that a 6triko may. gain the ends they., desire. • ,■
