The New Zealand Shipping Company have been advised by their London office that their new linsr Hurunui, of 10,000 tons register, has completed her trials in a highly satisfactory manner. She maintained a speed of 15.6 knots on a draught of 21 feet. On January 15 sba is to leave London (under commeuid of Captain J. P. Forsdiek) i'or Auckland and Wellington. Maitai advised that it was expected to make Wellington at 6 a.m. to-day. The- vessel will borth at the Queen's Wharf No. S on arrival. The Maitai is en route from Bydnoy to San Francisco, nnd e&Hs from Wellington at 5 p.m. to-morrow. MUEITAI AT MELBOURNE. After a smart passage of 40 days from London, the Tyssr liner Muritai has arrived at Melbourne.' After making calls' at Sydney,-Auckland, and Napier the vessel is due at Wellington about February 16. NEW YORK TO WELLINGTON. Word has been received in Wellington stating that the steamer Kittenturn, 6018 tons, is "xpected to clear New York for Australian and New Zealand ports on January 13. She is expected here about March 25. About 8 p.m. yesterday the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Opawa, which was en route from Napier to Waitara put into the stream at Wellington to take stevodores aboard. She continued her journey at 9.35 p.m. Under the auspices of the A. and A. Line the steamer Airao is announced to sail from Now York on February 19, for Australian and. New Zealand ports. On February 15 the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company's steamer Karamea is scheduled to leave Montreal for Australian and New-Zealand ports. The vessel is under charter Iα New Zealand Shipping Company, and is due here about April 26. Advices received in Wellington state that the introduction of another steamer into tho Ty.w service to and from Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom has brought about another alteration of command?. The principal changes to date are:-Oaptnin Lidstnne, of tho Muritai, to the new vassel which will be ready for Eea shortly, and Captain Firth from the Whakarua to tho Muritai, nnd Captain Kemp to the command of the Whakarua. Tho Shaw-Eavill Etoamer Rangatira is scheduled to leavo London to-day for Duii2diri and' Lyttelton. She is due at Dunodin about Fobruary SB. After completing discharge of her cargo of Wcstnort Coal fit Fremantle, the Kaituna will proceed to Bunbury to load timber for Melbourne. Thn Union Company propose sending tho WatteimHa from Wellington to Wostnort, where sho will load coal for Sydney. From that'port she proceeds on to Newcastle to loud for Java and Calcutta. She is scheduled to bavo Calcutta for New Zealand pprts in March. Now discharging timber from Eureka at Sydney the Union Company's training ship :T>3,rtford will probably proceed later to Newcastle to load ooal for Lyttelton, She will undergo her annual docking at the hitter port. Mr. Bowling, late third officer -of the Ilnkanoa, is now third of tho Moeraki, vice Mr.. IC. M'Laughlin, who has resigned from tho Union Company's service. Mr. J, M'Leau joined the Patesna as second officer yesterday, and Mr. F. Ayeling us third. . • The Shaw-Havill steamer Toliomani is expected at Wellington on January 15 front Oamaru. From hove slis proceeds to Napier, and sails finally from that port for London. It If expected that tho Waipori will leave Lytteltou for Wellington to-morrow. She is due in port on .Saturday, to discharge about 96,000 fe»t of timber shipped at lluon, Tasmania. Tho Poherua is expected to leave Greymouth for Wellington to-morrow. Yesterday afternoon tho collior Regulus was \ aken up on the Wellington Patent Slip for cleaning and painting. She will be followed by the Now Plymouth Harbour Board's dredge l'aritutu. Owing to rough weather on the East Coast, the steamer ICahu was unable to work her points of call, and consequently I'she was compelled to return to Napier! It is expected to dispatch her for Wellington to-night. During the last voyage of tb.3 6leamer Frankdale from Newcastle to Valparaiso Captain Finlay, the master, expired. It is understood that tho primary cause was an attack of gastritis, of which the captain had ai attack whilst tae iissscl was at ; tho northern port.
