The Hon. T. Mackenzie is at Hanmer. The other Ministers aro in town. Mr. John Duthio returned from Sydney by the Moeraki yesterday. Mr. Alexander Macintosh, manager of Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., returned from London via Sydney by Iho Moeraki yesterday. Mr. M. Myers, of the legal firm of Bell, Gully, Bell, and Myers, who has been in England on a pleasure trip, during which he also found time to attend to certain business matters for his firm, returned to Wellington by Ihe Moeraki yesterday. He was accompanied by Mrs. Myors. Mr. H. A. Smith, formerly of the accountants' branch of the General Post Office, was a passenger by the. Moeraki from Sydney yesterday. Mr. Smith left the service in 1901 to join tho Postal Department in Johannesburg. Ho is at pVoeent on rix months' holiday leave and travelled to New Zealand by way of Mauritius, East Africa, Ceylon, Straits Settlement and Australia. Before lenving New Zealand he will go to Auckland to visit relatives. 'The Rev. J. A. 'Jacobs, late vicar and archdeacon of Wauganui, was instituted Inst night by Bishop Julius to the position of the vicar of Timani, in succession to Archdeacon Harper, who had been vicar for 3G years. It is understood that Sir. llasaixl, chief draughtsman in the Christchurch office, will fill tho vacancy in Wostland, and that Mr. Thompson, chief draughtsman in Westland, will succeed Jlr. Hasard in Cliristchurch.
