PIGEON RACING.

i On New Year's Day a Ladies' Bracelet was flown from Mastertou, when SSO were liberated at the Caledonian Society's Sports, in a strong westerly gale, which prevented tho birds crossing the rango of mountains, and thus spoilt what would have been an interesting race. Only a small, percentage of tho birds homed on the day. Tho result was as follows:— Mr. J. Bolton's Sea Eogle, !)2G.Byds. per min., 1; Mr. W. Bailey's ffcirpriso IT, !)22.Gyds., 2; Mr. G. S. Neish's Huia, D 18.3 yds., 3. : A great deal of interest is bsing taken in an attempt tn fly from beyond the Three Kings to Wellington, a distance of about 5511 miles. The birds were liberated off the boat on ]i»r way to Sydney yesterday morning. This is the longest distance yet attempted by Wellington fliers, and the owners of the birds sent are confident that, priveu fine weather at the start, they will get their birds home in good time.
