COACH-WORKERS.

The conference of the New Zealand coach-workers has concluded, having drafted proposals for a now Dominion award to be brought before the Arbitration Court, including a week of forty-four hours, wages Is. Gd. per hour, leading hands.to receive a shilling a day extra .and wood-workers sixpence a day for tool money; overtime to be at the rate of time, and a quarter for tho first two hours, time and a half to midnight, and doublo timo beyond that. Holidays—Now ■ Year's Day, January i, Faster Monday, Labour Day, and Boxing Day. Indentures to cxtond over fivu years, boys to receive 10s. for the first year, 15s. for tho second, 20s. for the third, oOs. for the fourth, and 40s. for the fifth. Provision is made for extended apprenticeship :n tho two following years at 9s. a day for the first year, and 10s. a day for the second year. Ono helper is to lie allowed to each department, except in smiths' shops, where one will be allowed for each fiye. Wages— ,I'p to fifteen years cf age, 10s; a week; ■sixteen years, 155.; seventeen years, 20s. ; eighteen years, 355. a week; 'after .that Is. per hour.. The conference decided" I hat piece work should not be allowed. Preference of employment to unionists is provided for. The question of registration with tho Federation of Labour was referred to the incoming executive, to test the feelings of tho unions comprise! in the federation.
