The Bank of England rate was,' ofi Decomber 1, 1310, lowered from 5 to 41 per cent.: on January 27 it was lowered to 4 per cent., on February 16 to 3) per cent., and on March 9 to 3 per cent. On September 21 it was advanced to 4 per cent. ' Tho liauk of Franco rate was reduced from 3J to 3 per cent, on Januarv 23, 1953, and continued at tho latter' figure until September 21, 1911, when it was raised to 3} per ■ cent. i . The Imperial Bank of Germany reduced it 3 rate "from 5 to 4J per cent, on February 6, and on February 19 the rate, was further reduced to 4 per cent. On September 19 the rate was raised to 5 per cent.

COLONIAL AND-OTHER PRODUCE. Wheat.—The markets are . quiet and very steady, owing to the renewed unfavourable reports as to the .weather, and the damage to the Argentina crop, which it is estimated has decreased from six to live million tons. Dry weather is also urgently required in France. I'or Australian sailer December-January shipment 365, 4Jd, is asked; 565. 3d. is asked for 13.CC0 quarters just shipped: 365. 4d. has been .bid for South Australian August shipment; 575.-9 d. and 38s. paid for Australian landed; aud 365. 3d. for IO.OCO quarters, sailer, December shipment. Flour.—The market, is steady and inactive at 255. 6d. ex store; and 245. 6d. e.i.f. to arrive. . ' Oats—The market is firm. La Plata, new crop, December shipment, 17e. 4id.; January, 16s. 9d. Cutter—The market generally is firmer. Danish. 1325. to 134; i.: choicest Australian, 1265. to 1285.; secondaries, 1225. to • 124*.; .choicest-.New Zealand,-130s. Unsalted hail been cleared. - , . THE METAL MARKETS. Copper.—On spot, £63 13s. 9d. per tonthree months, £64 10a. per ton; electrolytic' £66 7s. 6d. ,pcr ton. Pig-iron, SC«. 9(1. per ton. Spelter, £26 15s. per ton.
