Evans chairman of the Hospital nnd Charitablo Aid Boiiril, visited the home and personally greeted each of tho inmates with Christmas wishes. All . the wards, were tastefully decorated with llowfir;.. and ovcrgrcwis, and a spwial ' Christmas faro.was provided. During tho day choirs from ,-the. various churches visited tin , institution, and saug carols, much to the pleasure of the'inmates.. HOME i'OR INCURABLES. No pains were spared to make Christmas Day at the Home for Incurables a I festival to be long remembered by tho \ inmates. Tn the morning .Miss A. Kennedy and Jliss Kathleen Kelly visited the I institution and presented to each of tho • inmates a Christmas bouquet. Tho Christ- ;. mas dinner was a great success, and each ; of tho patients also received a gift. : SALVATION ARMY. I There were Christmas celebrations yesterday at each of the institutions conducted locally by tho Salvation Army. At tho Children's Home, which accora- : modates some fifty, youngsters, the rejoic- : ings commenced at early dawn—when stockings were unloaded of their treasures : and continued until the evening. Tho room.H had been prettily decorated in red '. and white. Cotton-vrool, artfully ■ nr- ! ranged to represent snow, was a prominent feature in the decorative scheme. The children, who range in age from It : months upwards, all had a" riotously : happy time. The Christmas dinner-was a joyous fciisl , , and at lea-time'there ivaa
another scene of festivity. In the. evening a Christmas trro provided further mutter tor enjoyment. Staff-Captain lioi and her assistants spent an arduous dny, • but declared themselves amply repaid by the. happiness conferred on tho cliildreu undftr their care. ■ At the Rescue Ilome, where Major Blincoo is in control, the rooms were decorated with flowers and foliage, nuil with Christmas and New Year greetings. In the -afternoon a visit was received .ironi jtlin children who live nt tho Children's Homo, and from a number of local. officers, among • thum Brigadier Glover;" ' Mrs: Glover, and Miss ■Olover, Mrs. Braig, Adjutant Cook, ■Lieutenant- Bower, Staff-Captain Newbold, and Mrs. Newlold, Sisters Whitcfield and Bryant, Staff-Captain Roi and Captain .M'Kinuon. For the benefit of the children Brigadier Olover personated Father Christinas, i'or some ot v tliem'tlio experience was all the more delightful in.being perfectly new.. They liad never heard of .rather Christmas before. . Gifts were provided for the children, for the inmates of the • Rescue Home, and for.tho. attendant officers. At ■the Rescno Home, as at the other-; Arniy institution?, there was a merry Christmas dinner und auy amount of good cheer. The. evening was given over to ari and to the playing of game?. ■ The men who tenant tho Army lodginghouse :in Buckle Street were not forgotten. Some forty of' them were cuterrained at a-Christmns dinner by Adjutant Davies and his wife, and there- were further festivities in the evening. On each' occasion tho tables and the rooms were tastefully adorned w'th seasonable decorations.; .'•.'■■ ."
