LIVE WIRE DOWN.
MISHAP ON SATURDAY NIGHT. A live wiro came down in Cuba Street on, Saturday night, between Dixon Street and Manners Street junction. The paved roadway was wet and rain-wasli«l, so that the conditions were about as dangerous as they could be, but, fortunately, the mishap eccumil at a time when there wero very low people in the street. 'J'ho ellcct of (ho break was that it interrupted aud generally disorganised the tram >-.isrvire, for, in order to make repairs possible, it was necessary to cut off the current from Oliver lengths of line, Several cni-s wore standing in darkness along C'ourtenay Place, aud it was a considerable timo before tho service was restored to normal running. It happened that the delay was a serious matter enoiigii for the public, who were at that time most ansious to ect home as soon as jiossiblo out of tho crowded, wet, uncoinfortablo town. Abont 0.30 repairs hud advanced sufficiently to allow tho Courtenay Place service to bo resumed, and later tho Cuba Street running was clear again.
